Put Your
Credit Card to Work For You
We all know the dangers of using, and more importantly,
abusing, credit cards. However, there is a way to use credit cards to your
advantage.
If you are in a position where you have to use credit cards, such as if you
frequently travel for business and are reimbursed for your expenses, if you
have to purchase things for your own business upfront for later resale, or if
you need to purchase supplies for your small business, make sure that you get
a credit card that gives you something back.

By using a credit card with a cash-back program, or that gives you rewards for
using their credit card, you can not only get some extra cash for things that
you would normally have to buy anyway, but may be able to get some free trips
or hotel stays.
There are many different types of credit cards that offer incentives for using
their card. Some of the more popular include:
Cash Back – You get a percentage of what you spend back in a cash
rebate. Normally this is between 2-5%.
Frequent Flyer Miles – Most of the popular airlines offer a credit card
where you can receive frequent flyer miles for every dollar purchased with
their credit card. Typically you can earn extra points when purchasing a
flight on their airline with their card, as well.
Hotel Points – Many hotels also offer incentives for using their credit
cards. Most often, you receive a ‘point’ for every dollar spent. After
accumulating so many ‘points’ you can then redeem them for free hotel and
resort stays. Point values vary from hotel to hotel.
Others – There are virtually limitless other incentive programs out
there. You can earn tickets to sporting events, Disney has a program where you
can earn points towards your Disney vacation, even Royal Caribbean offers a
credit card where you can save to get a free Caribbean Cruise!
As always though, make sure that you are paying off your credit card in full
every month. You don’t need to pay the extra interest rates in order to get
your credit card benefits!
