Living Rich Even When You're Broke

Do you ever feel like you never have any money to do anything fun? Do you feel left out and jealous when you see friends constantly going to the movies, concerts, and eating out?

Even if you don't have a ton of extra money hanging around you can still be entertained with little or no expense.

Here are some cost effective ideas for having fun even though you may not be financially wealthy:

Go to a park - Generally, parks and recreation facilities are free or have a very minimal charge. Walking through a park on a nice, sunny day is a relaxing, rewarding way to not only get some exercise, which will make you feel better, but is also a way to exercise the mind and spirit. Spending time with nature and getting fresh air can do wonders for your attitude and stress.

Visit a library - Libraries contain whole worlds to explore. You can travel through space, board a pirate vessel, or battle wizards and dragons. Books are a great way to lose yourself, gain knowledge of the world around you, and can be richly entertaining. Most libraries charge a minimal amount, if anything, for a membership. Typically, annual dues will cost you less than the amount of buying one book!

Rent a movie - Aside from the huge, overpriced theatres, or the big, national movie rental chains, there are many times other avenues where you can rent movie titles at a much more reasonable charge. Occasionally, grocery stores and even gas stations may offer selections at a fraction of the cost. True, you may not get first-run, top 10 blockbusters but sometimes you stumble across an unexpected classic. Also, micro-waved popcorn made at home is a heck of a lot cheaper than the oversized tubs they sell at the theatres!

Have some friends and/or family over for games and fun - Few things are more enjoyable then spending time with friends and family. Get together to play cards, board games, or even charades. Perhaps you could ask everyone to bring a dish to share and make a meal out of it as well. One big money saving tip: you don't need alcohol to have a great time! Not only will you save a ton of money, you will probably have more fun without it and will feel much better the following morning.

Go to church - Houses of worship can not only save you from eternal damnation, but can actually be fun as well. Many churches have done away with the hard pews, the archaic hymns, and the boring messages where the pastor drones on and on. Many contemporary services offer great music, bible teachings that are applicable to real life, and are in a comfortable setting. Churches are a great way to meet people, get involved with your community, but also to receive spiritual salvation.
